CIC Seals Spring 2024 Event

Another successful event for CIC! The Spring theme was focused on Estimating and Repair Planning. Attendees were asked to share their definitions before the start of the event. The following definitions were proposed by CIC.

Definitions proposed by CIC:

• Estimate – An initial assessment of vehicle damage which approximates the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged parts, including labor and materials.
• Repair Plan – A comprehensive vehicle damage assessment of necessary steps and procedures for repair created by the repair facility to determine cost of parts, labour, and materials.

The event included:

• A discussion on Estimating and Repair Planning led by Boeing representatives and special guests. The conversations covered end-to-end repair processes for Boeing commercial airplanes compared to the principles applied in automotive collision repair, all with the goal of ensuring consumer safety while traveling.
• I-CAR subject matter experts demonstrated the new Repairability Technical Support (RTS) mobile application. The RTS app will make Ask I-CAR, best practices, OEM repair, diagnostic, technical, procedural, and other important industry information more accessible to users.
• Technical skill-sharing focused on the perfect application of matte and semi-gloss paint in production environments.
• Emerging Technologies (Analog) focused on Laser Welding and its possible applications and precautions.
• Talent Pool & Education highlighted local collision repair shop owners and educators sharing solutions to improve their ability to recruit, train, and retain talent.
• Data Access Privacy and Security centered on vehicle history reports and repair facilities.
• Industry Relations (Insurer-Repairer) dispelled common myths about calibrations and revealed safe and proper calibration processes.
• Future Disruptions brought the AI conversation to practical use cases in today’s businesses in areas of customer experience, communications, and operations.

The events of the day concluded with a networking reception.
